About Old Tavern Farm
History abounds at Old Tavern. Originally know as Frayser’s Ordinary, established c. 1693, the Tavern was a respite for travelers heading to and from Williamsburg and Richmond, allowing them to rest and enjoy a warm meal. Purchased by our great grandfather in 1903, we have farmed, raised animals and cared for the land.
Our latest venture began in 2015, with a small farm stand. We’ve grown each year, expanding our store, adding farmer’s markets, wholesale to restaurants & grocers, U-Pick berries & flowers, and a large CSA Farm Share membership. We focus on sustainably growing produce, berries, cut flowers & herbs. We raise heritage Red Wattle hogs which are fed a locally grown and milled, 100% plant based feed. They roam large woodland pastures and care for with love and respect. Our chickens are also heritage, free-range and fed the same base feed, as the hogs. No many how many eggs we collect, it seems they always sell quickly.
2020, has been quite the year, but it has also led to our online platform and we hope you enjoy shopping with us. We enjoy growing delicious, nutritional dense food for you and your family to enjoy. While your here, please ask us about farm tours. We offer both self-guided and guide tours. Everyone enjoys seeing the chickens, goats, pigs and seeing exactly where their food is grown and raised.
